Panama City, October 8, 2026 — Gustavo Aragón, founder of Oktsec, has been invited to speak at the Universidad de Panamá on Friday, October 9, at 6:00 p.m. Panama time. The session will take place in the auditorium of the Facultad de Informática, Electrónica y Comunicación.

Real cases and a starting point for a career in cybersecurity

The conversation will explore how artificial intelligence is changing cybersecurity and the opportunities it creates for people entering the field. Drawing on his experience researching vulnerabilities and building companies in Latin America, Aragón will share cases, lessons learned and recommendations for taking the first steps in the sector.

The format is intended to make room for questions and discussion. Participants do not need a technical background or previous cybersecurity experience to follow the conversation.

The invitation adds a university visit to Oktsec’s work in Panama, where Aragón is meeting prospective customers to understand their cybersecurity, AI adoption and training needs.

About Universidad de Panamá and its technology faculty

Founded in 1935, Universidad de Panamá has more than nine decades of history in higher education. It ranks first among Panamanian universities in EduRank’s 2026 edition, which considers research output, non-academic reputation and alumni impact.

The visit is specifically to the Facultad de Informática, Electrónica y Comunicación (FIEC). Its 2026 teaching schedule includes computing, electronics and communication, data science, mechatronics, and a technical program in security and computer forensics. That academic setting connects the conversation about AI security to the subjects students are already studying and the careers they may pursue.

Bringing experience from building companies and securing AI

Aragón has more than 20 years of experience in technology, including 14 years as a CTO and a career in financial technology. He spent seven years building a business in Brazil, where he co-founded Brelo and led the development of patented mobile-device locking technology that enabled phones to be used as collateral for credit.

At Oktsec, his work focuses on cybersecurity for applications and AI agents. As agents gain access to business systems, that work includes evaluating their permissions, testing attempts to misuse connected tools and keeping evidence of the actions allowed or blocked.

Oktsec also offers talks and practical training for universities, companies and public institutions, with content adapted to the audience’s experience and the work they want to do.

From ACE Barranquilla to conversations in Panama

The invitation follows Aragón’s participation in ACE Barranquilla 2026, where he received the Partnership Catalyst Award from Leandro Rizzuto Jr., U.S. Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States.

During the exchange, he signed 15 letters of intent with people and organizations from 10 countries to explore work in cybersecurity, AI and training. Those included AudacIA, the AI and robotics research center at Universidad Simón Bolívar in Barranquilla. These conversations give Oktsec a way to understand the needs of both employers adopting AI and institutions preparing the people who will build and use it.

About Gustavo Aragón

Aragón is an ambassador for the Agentic AI Foundation, part of the Linux Foundation. In April 2026, he formed and led the team that won first place among 55 participating teams in Anthropic and KASZEK’s first Latin American hackathon. The team built AgentPay, applying security checks to payments initiated by AI agents.

He founded Oktsec to help organizations assess and control the actions their AI applications and agents can perform. Read more about his background and research.
