## Evidence and response priority

- Evidence: Incident confirmed by provider
- Verification: Vendor confirmed
- Fix status: Not applicable
- Exposure requirement: Application or configuration dependent
- Vendor: Chainalysis
- Products: Chainalysis user accounts

## Technical overview

Chainalysis’s October 30 notice confirms access to user IDs, names, email addresses and organizational role labels. The provider says it has found no evidence to date of access to investigation content, authentication credentials or session tokens. These are findings from an ongoing investigation, not a guarantee that the scope cannot change.

Oktsec recommends treating exposed identity and role data as useful context for targeted phishing. Verify account-recovery requests through established channels, check 2FA and retain suspicious messages for investigation. No client software fix is identified in this notice.

The vendor’s reference to agentic techniques does not establish an autonomous attack, a specific model or a particular tool. Keep that attribution separate from the confirmed data-access scope.

## Recommended response

Check customer notices, enforce 2FA and verify unexpected reset or authentication requests through a known channel.

Relevant to: Chainalysis customer administrators, investigation teams and users receiving account or authentication requests.

## Response checklist

1. **Confirm your organization’s scope** — Review the customer notice with your account manager through an established contact. Record which users and data fields are confirmed affected; an account at the provider alone does not establish inclusion in the exposed records.
2. **Check 2FA and unexpected requests** — Confirm 2FA is enabled. Verify unexpected password-reset or authentication prompts through a known channel before acting, and report suspicious requests to your security team.
3. **Review account activity and subsequent findings** — Review unusual sign-ins or account changes under your incident process. Preserve relevant evidence and track vendor updates. Escalate if new evidence establishes authentication or investigation-data exposure.

## Relevance to AI environments

The vendor mentions agentic techniques, but the disclosed evidence does not establish autonomous execution or identify an AI model or tool.
